At Smiles by Smith Orthodontics, we combine more than 100 years of collective experience with advanced orthodontic technology to provide personalized care for children, teens and adults. Our multi-generational orthodontic practice has proudly served families throughout Pittsburgh and Allison Park, PA, as well as nearby Fox Chapel and surrounding communities, since opening our doors in 1999.
We are committed to creating an orthodontic experience that is efficient, comfortable and centered on each patient’s individual needs. Our approach combines experienced clinical judgment, clear communication and modern technology throughout diagnosis, treatment planning and ongoing care.
Advanced Technology for Personalized Orthodontic Care
What sets our practice apart is not only the quality of our care, but how we deliver it. We use a fully digital workflow designed to make orthodontic treatment more efficient, precise and comfortable for patients.
Our technology includes CBCT imaging, digital scanning, in-office 3D printing and other advanced orthodontic technology that supports diagnosis, treatment planning, appliance fabrication and retention.
We are also proud to be an impression-free practice. Digital scanning allows us to create accurate models of the teeth without relying on traditional impression trays for many orthodontic workflows. This can make the process more comfortable for both children and adults while supporting efficient digital treatment planning.
Honesty, Experience and Care You Can Trust
Our approach is guided by two foundational values: honesty and experience. We believe the best orthodontic care starts with a clear conversation about what we see, what treatment may accomplish and whether treatment is needed at all.
Patients of all ages can expect transparent guidance from an experienced team that genuinely cares about making thoughtful recommendations. Whether you are exploring treatment for your child or considering orthodontic care for yourself, our orthodontist can explain the available options and help you make an informed decision.
Dr. Bradley D. Smith has practiced orthodontics since 1997 and has treated more than 10,000 orthodontic patients during his career. His experience spans traditional and ceramic braces, clear aligners, early orthodontics, adult treatment, palatal expansion, airway-focused care, TMJ and jaw-related concerns, retention and interdisciplinary treatment.
A Comprehensive Approach to Orthodontic Health
While Smiles by Smith Orthodontics has always focused on creating healthy, confident smiles, our approach also considers how the teeth, jaws, oral muscles and surrounding structures function together.
When clinically relevant, our orthodontist may evaluate breathing patterns, tongue posture, oral habits and jaw development as part of a comprehensive orthodontic examination. This broader approach is reflected in services such as airway orthodontics and orofacial myofunctional therapy.
These services may support orthodontic treatment when airway-related concerns, tongue posture, swallowing patterns or oral muscle function are relevant to the patient’s needs. When concerns extend beyond orthodontics, our orthodontist can coordinate care with ENTs, dentists, oral surgeons, myofunctional therapists, sleep specialists and other healthcare providers when appropriate.
Our goal is not to apply the same treatment philosophy to every patient. Instead, we evaluate the complete clinical picture and recommend care based on individual findings, goals and timing.
Orthodontic Care for Every Stage of Life
Our orthodontist provide orthodontic care for children, teens and adults. Treatment options may include braces, clear aligners, early orthodontic treatment, palatal expansion, retention and other individualized approaches.
For younger children, early evaluation does not automatically mean treatment. Dr. Smith carefully monitors growth and development and may recommend observation through the Growing Grins Kids Club until the timing is right for treatment, if treatment becomes necessary.
For teens and adults, treatment recommendations are based on tooth alignment, bite relationships, oral health, lifestyle preferences and the complexity of the movements required.
